Law No. 20,594, which creates disqualifications for individuals convicted of sexual offenses against minors and establishes a registry of such disqualifications, was published on June 19, 2012. The regulation establishes prohibitions that prevent those convicted of sexual offenses against minors from working with children or adolescents, through the creation of a penalty of absolute disqualification, either permanent or temporary, for positions, jobs, trades, or professions carried out in educational settings or that involve a direct and habitual relationship with minors. It also establishes a national registry of individuals convicted of these crimes.
Finally, the Civil Registry and Identification Service is ordered to create this registry of convictions, which must be accessible for telematic consultation.
